The coming weekend (18th-19th April 2020) was set to be a busy one for Old School Crafts, with two half-day workshops planned. ‘Learn to Crochet’ was pretty much fully booked and a ‘Leather Journal Making’ had also proved popular. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of these events, which while disappointing, pales into insignificance compared to the hardships that some are facing at this time.
As it is, we find ourselves ‘working from home’ in a new way, both for our teaching day jobs and for sustaining our fledgling craft business. As one of the 1.5 million people in shielding, Zoe was recommended not to leave the house for 12 weeks, though having done the same for 6 of the last 12 months due to chemotherapy, another 3 months doesn’t seem too daunting.
We are finding time to practise and refine our range of crafts. David has been working on adding gold tooling into his bookbinding repertoire, which adds a lovely, traditional finishing touch to his handcrafted books.
So we look forward to a time when we can get our workshops up and running again, and get the Old School back to full educational capacity!
